CONOVEY Automation & Specialized Products

CONOVEY's goal in automation is to increase efficiency, productivity, and consistency in food and CPG production while reducing the reliance on manual labor and minimizing human error.

The benefits of automation in the food and CPG industries include increased production capacity, improved product consistency, reduced labor costs, enhanced food and product safety, and faster response to market demands. However, implementing automation also requires significant upfront investment, technical expertise, and careful consideration of workforce implications. Additionally, some processing tasks may still require human intervention, particularly in areas that demand creativity, complex decision-making, or delicate handling. CONOVEY helps both System Integrators and End Use customers effectively introduce automation to previously manual processes with confidence and ensures that the ROI is met.

CONOVEY Robotic Positioning Systems

CONOVEY manufactures systems that position food and CPG products for efficient picking by parallel manipulators or cobots.

CONOVEY Product Positioners for robotic picking are devices or mechanisms that we manufacture to present items in a specific and consistent orientation to a robotic system. The primary purpose of these positioners is to ensure that the robotic arm or gripper can accurately and efficiently pick up objects from a known location and orientation, facilitating the automation of picking tasks in manufacturing, warehousing, and logistics operations. CONOVEY also manufactures devices to position cases for robotic placement of the picked items.

Precision Laning Systems
The number of lanes are configurable and each line is individually servo driven to precisely align the patties or buns prior to pick.
Bulk Unload & Separate
The vibratory feeder can be supplied with a hopper to promote a bulk dump. The feeder then performs product separation, rough laning and flow balancing prior to entry into the servo laner.
Knock Back Bar
An independently powered rotating knock back bar removes any doubles prior to product entering the pick zone. Soft rubber fingers are used to gently knock back double stacked products.
Easily Cleanable
The entire system is designed for daily heavy wash down with attention paid to elimination of harborage points.
High Volume Capability
This technology lends itself well to high speed, high volume robotic pick/place applications.
Portability
Systems can be supplied on heavy duty and sanitary swivel locking casters with hard docking points. This facilitates maintenance and cleaning.
Highly Reliable
Our individual servo lane design reduces the likelihood of void pockets during the pick process, thereby improving linespeed efficiency.

Vibratory Feeders

CONOVEY manufactures three unique feeder types depening on your product properties and motion requirements.

CONOVEY designs and manufactures Electromagnetic, Rotary Electric and Fastback Motion feeders. Each style of motion has its own unique benefits and the selection of each is dependent upon the products being conveyed and the purpose of the feeder. For example, loose products feeding high speed radial would be best fed using fastback motion feeders due to the smooth motion and precise feed rate control.

Electromagnetic
This option can handle a wide variety of products. There are limitations on the weight of the pan as electromagnetic systems rely on a light dead weight mass and sometimes precise control can be a little finicky. This technology is widely used throughout industry.
Rotary Electric
Sometime called "Brute Force" feeders, these systems are designed to move a lot of product with a decent range of flow variability. They are mechanically simple and easy to troubleshoot and used in many bulk feed applications. They tend to be noisier than the EM versions but are considered to be workhorses.
Fastback Motion
Gently transports product by cycling through slow-forward and fast-back horizontal motion, which neither damages product nor disturbs coatings, while providing the fastest product travel rates, maximizing product distribution efficiency.
Optional Feed Hoppers
Our vibratory systems can be equipped with optional feed hoppers to permit bulk dumping of flowable products resulting in increased product efficiencies.
Flow Balancing
Vibratory feeders do an excellent job providing consistent flow balancing and smooth feeding of flowable products.
Multiple Discharge Gates
Our feeders can come equipped with bottom discharge gates located along along the pan length (after the drive mechanism). This permits an easy and reliable method to split the flow to feed multiple weighers or other downstream packaging equipment.
Laning
Vibratory feeders are great to create even lanes of product without the need for fancy controls.

Rotary Packing Tables

CONOVEY Rotary Packing Tables provide a simple and economical means to provide buffer prior to case filling.

CONOVEY Rotary Racking Tables, also known as turntable packing tables, offer several advantages across many industries and packaging processes. Some of the key advantages include:

Increased efficiency
Rotary packing tables allow for continuous and smooth rotation, which streamlines the packing process. Operators can access different sides of the table easily, reducing the need for constant walking around the table to reach different areas.
Ergonomic design
Our tables are designed to minimize strain on operators. As products or packages move along the table's surface, the need for repetitive bending and reaching is reduced, leading to less physical fatigue and potential injuries.
Improved productivity
With a rotary packing table, multiple operators can work simultaneously at different stages of the packing process, increasing overall throughput and productivity.
Space optimization
The circular design of rotary packing tables maximizes the use of available floor space. They can fit into tight corners or compact areas, making them ideal for environments with limited space.
Versatility
Rotary packing tables can be used for a wide range of applications, such as filling, capping, labeling, sorting, and inspection processes. They are adaptable to different industries, including food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and more.
Cost-effective
These tables can be a cost-effective alternative to more complex automated systems. They provide automation to a certain extent without the need for large-scale investments in fully automated equipment.

Robotic Case Palletizing

CONOVEY developed a robust, small footprint case palletizer for industrial end of line solutions.

The CONOVEY Robotic Case Palletizer is designed to fit in a 6 foot X 10 foot footprint, perfect for existing facilities that have tight space constraints. We utilize industrial level robots that will stand up in real world industrial applications. Our case palletizers are highly flexible, easily re-configurable, safe and can easily palletize 40 cases per minute. We can also integrate case erecting and case presentation to the palletizer. Some benefits of robotic case palletizing include:

Increased efficiency
Robotic palletizing systems can work at a consistent pace without the need for breaks, resulting in higher productivity and throughput. They can handle a large number of cases per minute, which significantly speeds up the palletizing process.
Reduced labor costs
With robots handling the palletizing tasks, companies can reduce the need for manual labor, leading to potential cost savings on wages and benefits. Additionally, it eliminates the risk of injuries associated with repetitive lifting and stacking tasks.
Flexibility
Robotic palletizers can be easily reprogrammed and reconfigured to handle different product types, packaging sizes, and pallet patterns. This adaptability allows for greater versatility in handling various products within the same facility.
Improved accuracy
Robots are precise and consistent in their movements, ensuring that each case is placed accurately on the pallet. This reduces the likelihood of product damage during palletizing and ensures that the pallets are stacked correctly for safe transportation and storage.
Space-saving
Robotic palletizing systems are often compact and can be integrated into existing production lines without requiring a significant footprint. They can operate in tight spaces, making them suitable for various factory layouts.
Enhanced safety
By automating the palletizing process, companies can reduce the risk of workplace accidents and injuries associated with manual handling. This contributes to a safer work environment for employees.
24/7 operation
Unlike human workers, robots can operate continuously without breaks, leading to continuous production capabilities and increased overall efficiency.
Data collection and analysis
Our robotic palletizing systems come with advanced software that allows for data collection and analysis. This data can be used to optimize palletizing patterns, identify potential bottlenecks, and make informed decisions to improve the overall production process.
Integration with other systems
Our Robotic Palletizers can be easily integrated with other automated systems, such as conveyor belts, robotic pick-and-place systems, and warehouse management software, creating a seamless and efficient production and distribution process.
